Streamers

These streamers were designed for trophy browns, rainbows, salmon, steelhead and smallmouth bass. We have used these patterns throughout Michigan and the Great Lakes region and have had tremendous success in both rivers and lakes. The method that we use to fish these flies is a strip jerk technique using a sink tip, full sink, or shooting head fly line. Here on the Big Waters of the Au Sable River my favorite setup for streamer fishing is a custom built Sage 9' 6wt. fast action fly rod (Z-Axis or TCX). A good disc drag reel (Abel Super 5N or Sage 4560) with a Rio 200 grain 24' DC sink tip. These streamers are worked through the trout holding water with a strip/jerk retrieve. This method will produce violent strikes and will produce trophy size trout!

The Great Lakes Deceiver is a pattern that we have developed that is extremely effective for many species and one of our favorites here in Michigan for salmon and trophy trout. We started with Umpqua's Lefty Deceiver and made few changes that makes this pattern more effective in our rivers and lakes. The bucktail is built up giving fly a much larger profile in the water. With these color combos these are one of our go to flies when looking for trophy browns on the Au Sable River, King Salmon on the Betsie River and fly fishing shoreline of Lake Huron & Lake Michigan for trophy trout.

The row above shows four different colors of Conrad Sculpins. This is a articulated pattern with two hooks and has been a top producing fly for trophy river browns the past two years. Fly has great side to side and up and down movement. Imitates a sculpin, baitfish or goby. Also a excellent lake & river pattern for browns, salmon and steehead.
